KWALON network

The KWALON network stems from the Working Group on Interpretative Social Science Research (WISWO, 1979) and has existed since 1996. KWALON is an independent organisation of researchers and teachers at universities, colleges, research agencies and other organisations engaged in innovation of and reflection on the methodology of qualitative social science research. From 1996-2024, we did this, among other things, through the KWALON journal , part of whose archive (1996-2003) can be found on this website, and another part (2004-2024) on the website of Amsterdam University Press.

KWALON currently organises and stimulates discussion and collaboration among qualitative researchers via the blog (this website) and conferences. The aim is to promote methodologically sound use and development of qualitative research methods.

KWALON’s current board consists of Ilse van Liempt (chair), Jeanine Evers (treasurer) and Gerben Moerman (secretary).
The current editors of the blog consist of Abdessamad Bouabid (Erasmus University), Esther van Loon (Windesheim University of Applied Sciences), Suzanne Roggeveen (The Netherlands Institute for Social Research ¦ SCP) and Anja van der Voort (Leiden University).
